Flor M. Muñoz, MD, MSc, FAAP, is associate professor of pediatrics and infectious diseases at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. 

Dr Muñoz is a clinician-scientist with various projects supported by the US National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and industry, focusing on vaccines, maternal immunization, immunization of immunocompromised hosts, and the epidemiology of respiratory infections that include influenza, RSV, SARS-CoV2, pertussis, adenovirus, and others. She has published extensively on topics related to vaccine safety and maternal immunization.

Dr Muñoz is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Infectious Diseases, the Mpox Work Group of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Immunization Expert Work Group. She also serves as chair of the Institutional Review Board at Baylor College of Medicine and is a member of several professional societies, including the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, and the Society for Pediatric Research. She serves as a member of safety monitoring boards for vaccine research; as a reviewer for numerous clinical journals, including The Lancet Infectious Diseases and JAMA; and on the editorial board for Vaccine, The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, and UpToDate in Pediatrics. She is also a frequently invited panelist and speaker for research presentations, both nationally and internationally.
