Michael E. Weinblatt, MD, has been at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, for 45 years, and he currently serves as the R. Bruce and Joan M. Mickey Distinguished Chair in Rheumatology. He is also the John and Eileen K. Riedman Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, also in Boston. Dr Weinblatt is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine (1975). He was a rheumatology fellow at the Robert Breck Brigham Hospital and Harvard Medical School.


His major research interest is in the study of therapeutics for rheumatoid arthritis. Dr Weinblatt is a master of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and a recipient of the ACR Distinguished Clinical Investigator Award and Presidential Gold Medal. He also served as president of the ACR in 2001.


Dr Weinblatt has an extensive bibliography, with more than 280 peer-reviewed papers, 83 invited reviews and editorials, and 16 book chapters. In addition, he served as coeditor for the textbook Rheumatology.
