Robert W. Frenck Jr, MD, is a professor of pediatrics and director of the Center for Vaccine Research in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Dr Frenck received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego in 1977, followed by his doctorate of medicine degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1981. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the National Naval Medical Center (currently known as the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center) in Bethesda, MD, followed by a pediatric infectious diseases fellowship at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He retired from the US Navy after a 27-year career and joined Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2006. 

Dr Frenck is board certified in both pediatrics and infectious diseases. He maintains an active research portfolio that includes therapeutic and vaccine clinical trials with special interest in enteric diseases. He has published more than 150 articles in the peer-reviewed literature, including 11 articles on COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials.
