Nancy Carteron, MD, FACR, is a clinical professor of health sciences and medicine at the University of California, Berkeley, Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science, where she is also a consultant at the interdisciplinary Sjögren’s Clinic. Additionally, she is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Fancisco.
Dr Carteron has received training in molecular virology and immunology. She received her MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and postgraduate education at Johns Hopkins, Duke University, Stanford University, and the University of California, San Francisco. Dr Carteron was previously in private practice in San Francisco for 30 years, with a focus on complex autoimmune diseases.
She is board certified in rheumatology and internal medicine, with expertise in Sjögren’s disease. She is coauthor of A Body Out of Balance: Understanding and Treating Sjögren’s Syndrome with Ruth Fremes, MA. Dr Carteron is the immediate past rheumatology chair of the Sjögren’s Foundation Clinical Practice Guidelines Program, as well as its Medical and Scientific Advisory Group. Finally, she is currently a Sjögren’s Disease Team Member for the Accelerating Medicines Partnership and Autoimmune and Immune-Mediated Diseases Program.
