Joanne Mortimer, MD, FACP, FASCO, is the Baum Family Professor in Women’s Cancers, associate director for cancer research training and education coordination, and vice chair and a professor in the Department of Medical Oncology and Therapeutics Research at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center in Duarte, CA.


Dr Mortimer received her MD from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine and an oncology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.


She has more than 3 decades of experience in treating patients with breast cancer and conducting clinical trials to improve their care. She takes a special interest in the use of functional imaging to predict early benefit from targeted treatments.


Dr Mortimer has been listed numerous times as one of Castle Connolly’s “top doctors.” She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, the American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Women’s Association. She is also a charter member of the National Cancer Institute and a member of the US Food and Drug Administration Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee.
