Alexander Wiseman, MD, FAST

Alexander Wiseman, MD, FAST, is executive director of kidney transplantation at AdventHealth Transplant Institute, AdventHealth Porter, in Denver, CO.

Dr Wiseman received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, completed residency training in internal medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and completed fellowships in nephrology and transplant nephrology at the University of Colorado.

An internationally recognized transplant nephrologist, educator, and researcher, Dr Wiseman has held directorship positions for kidney transplant programs since 2008. In his current role at AdventHealth, he is active in creating partnerships with nephrologists to provide comprehensive kidney management care delivery.

His clinical and research interests include the optimization of care delivery for chronic kidney disease, organ allocation and utilization, and novel immunosuppressive and immune-monitoring strategies. He has delivered more than 230 invited lectures and has more than 120 publications.

Dr Wiseman has directed numerous research and educational programs for the American Society of Transplantation (AST), the American Society of Nephrology (ASN), and the National Kidney Foundation, most recently serving as cochair of the AST Medical Director Task Force and the AST Medical Directors Forum, transplant program chair for ASN Kidney Week, and treasurer of the AST Board of Directors.

His honors include the 2025 Patient Advocate Award from the American Transplant Foundation and the 2025 Physician of the Year Award from AdventHealth Porter. He is a fellow of both the AST and the American College of Physicians.
