Sandra M. Gawchik, DO, FAAAAI, FACAAI, is in private practice at Asthma & Allergy Associates in the Glen Mills and West Chester areas outside of Philadelphia, PA. She is also a clinical associate professor of pediatrics at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr Gawchik is a graduate of Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery (currently known as Kansas City University). She completed a rotating internship and residency in pediatrics at Cherry Hill Medical Center in Cherry Hill, NJ, and at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. She then completed a fellowship in allergy and immunology at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr Gawchik is board certified by The American Board of Pediatrics, the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians, and The American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
She has been active at the regional and national levels. For example, she has been active with the Federation of Regional, State and Local Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Societies, including previously serving as chair of the Regional, State and Local Societies and governor for Region 2. Dr Gawchik has also served on various American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) committees, including the Education and Research Trust (currently known as ARTrust) Board of Trustees, the Workshop Committee (for which she is past chair), the Nominating Committee, and the Board of Directors. Additionally, she previously served as president for both the Pennsylvania Allergy & Asthma Association (PAAA) and the Philadelphia Allergy Society.
Dr Gawchik is currently serving on the Eastern Allergy Conference Board of Directors and as chair of the AAAAI Urticaria Committee. She is currently a fellow of the AAAAI; the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI); the American College of Physicians; and the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians.
She has delivered numerous lectures and addresses both nationally and internationally. Her awards and honors include the 2017 ACAAI Woman in Allergy Award and a Recognition Award for her efforts in founding the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter. Finally, Dr Gawchik has been recognized as a “top doctor” for children in both Philadelphia magazine and Main Line Today.
