Atul A. Deodhar, MD, MRCP, FACR, FACP, is a professor of medicine and medical director of rheumatology clinics in the Division of Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases at Oregon Health & Science University, Portland.
Dr Deodhar is board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology and is a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and the American College of Physicians. He is a recipient of the Arthritis Foundation Legend Award and the ACR Distinguished Clinician Scholar Award.
He has served on the American Board of Internal Medicine Rheumatology Board, is past chair of the Spondyloarthritis Research and Treatment Network, has served on the Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis Steering Committee, and has served the ACR in various capacities, including as vice chair of its Annual Meeting Planning Committee. He serves on the Arthritis Foundation and the Spondylitis Association of America medical advisory boards.
Dr Deodhar is editor in chief of Best Practice & Research: Clinical Rheumatology. He has authored 3 books, more than 400 peer-reviewed articles, editorials, and several book chapters, including coauthoring a chapter in the 22nd edition of Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine. He has been a principal investigator or co-investigator for more than 100 clinical trials focused mainly on therapies for axial spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
