Daniel E. Spratt, MD, is the Vincent K. Smith Chair in Radiation Oncology at the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and a tenured professor and chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
After completing his medical training at Vanderbilt University and his residency training in radiation oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Dr Spratt joined the faculty at the University of Michigan, where he served as cochair of the Genitourinary Clinical Research Team at the Rogel Cancer Center. He later joined the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2021, where he serves as chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and as co–principal investigator for the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center National Clinical Trials Network Lead Academic Participating Site grant.
Dr Spratt is an international expert in prostate cancer, clinical trial design, and biomarker development and validation. He serves as chair of both the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Prostate Cancer Guidelines and the NRG Oncology Intact Prostate Cancer Subcommittee, and he is a member of the National Cancer Institute Genitourinary Steering Committee. He is also the first radiation oncologist to be appointed as a standing member of the US Food and Drug Administration Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee. Finally, Dr Spratt runs a National Institutes of Health–funded translational research team that focuses on the development and validation of prognostic and predictive biomarkers, has published more than 450 peer-reviewed manuscripts, and has served as the principal investigator for numerous national and international clinical trials.
