Flor Muñoz, MD, MSc, FAAP, is associate professor of Pediatrics and Infectious Diseases at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.

Dr Muñoz is an investigator in various projects supported by industry, the US National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Vaccine Program Office, the World Health Organization, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation focusing on vaccines, maternal immunization, and the epidemiology of respiratory infections. She has published extensively on topics related to vaccines and maternal immunization.  

Dr Muñoz is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Infectious Diseases, the Influenza and the Pertussis Work Groups of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Immunization Expert Work Group. She also serves as chair of the Institutional Review Board at Baylor College of Medicine and is a member of several professional societies, including the European Society of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She serves as a member of safety monitoring boards for vaccine research; as a reviewer for numerous clinical journals, including The Lancet Infectious Diseases and JAMA; and on the editorial board for UpToDate in Pediatrics. She is also a frequently invited panelist and speaker for research presentations, both nationally and internationally.
