Genevieve Neal-Perry, MD, PhD

Genevieve Neal-Perry, MD, PhD, is the Robert A. Ross Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine.

Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Dr Neal-Perry completed her residency training at Beth Israel Medical Center and her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Albert Einstein College of Medicine through Yeshiva University.

Dr Neal-Perry is a nationally recognized physician-scientist, educator, and leader in reproductive endocrinology, women’s health, and menopause research who has built a distinguished career advancing clinical care, scientific discovery, and academic medicine. Through her leadership, scholarship, and advocacy, she remains committed to advancing women’s health and fostering innovation in research and clinical care, and she enjoys mentoring the next generation of physicians, scientists, and health care leaders.

An accomplished researcher, Dr Neal-Perry’s work focuses on neuroendocrinology, menopause, reproductive aging, infertility, and health disparities. She has served as principal investigator and a collaborator on numerous National Institutes of Health– and foundation-funded studies. Her research has contributed to a greater understanding of reproductive aging, menopause, and women’s metabolic health, helping to shape evidence-based care for women across the life span.

Dr Neal-Perry’s expertise and leadership extend to the national stage. In March 2024, she met with First Lady Jill Biden to discuss women’s health research initiatives at UNC-Chapel Hill, including UNC’s contributions to the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. She has also been a featured speaker for the Women’s Congressional Policy Institute Menopause and Midlife Women’s Health briefing, helping to elevate menopause research awareness and the importance of investing in women’s health nationwide.
