Justin Oldham, MD, MS, is currently an assistant professor of medicine at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), where he directs the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Program. Dr Oldham completed his fellowship at the University of Chicago and was then recruited to UC Davis to direct the ILD Program.
He is a clinician-scientist who is interested in biomarker development and implementation. Dr Oldham is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health to study genomic determinants of outcomes in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). His work has included the first drug-gene interaction study performed in IPF (Oldham JM et al. Am J Respir Crit Care Med. 2015;192[12]:1475-1482), and he is currently conducting the first genome-wide association study of survival in patients with IPF. Dr Oldham is also interested in circulating biomarkers of outcomes in ILD, and he has recently published several biomarker investigations in patients with IPF and non-IPF forms of ILD.
