M. Elaine Husni, MD, MPH, is a physician-scientist and rheumatologist at Cleveland Clinic, where she serves as vice chair and director of the Arthritis & Musculoskeletal Center. She also holds the inaugural endowed Scholtz Family Chair of Translational Functional Medicine Research.
Dr Husni has both an MD and a MPH, and she completed her medical training at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for internal medicine and Brigham and Women’s Hospital for rheumatology.
She is active both in patient care and in clinical and translational research focused on examining health outcomes in psoriatic disease and large-scale clinical trials in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Dr Husni also leads a basic research laboratory at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, where her work is focused on understanding the mechanisms of TNF biology in psoriatic disease.
In addition to her clinical and research leadership roles, Dr Husni serves on the boards of directors for the National Psoriasis Foundation and the Rheumatology Research Foundation. She is also a member of the Arthritis Foundation Medical and Scientific Committee.
