Miguel-Angel Perales, MD, is chief of the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and professor of medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, both in New York, NY. He received his MD from the Free University of Brussels and completed his postdoctoral training at Tufts Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr Perales is an internationally recognized leader in the field of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. He is the immediate past president of the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy and currently serves as chair of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology Transplant and Cell Based Therapies Committee. He previously served as vice-chair and member of the Be The Match (currently known as the National Marrow Donor Program) Board of Directors. Dr Perales has also held leadership positions and has been extensively involved in activities of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research and the Blood & Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network.
He has more than 400 publications, including peer-reviewed articles, position papers, guidelines, editorials, invited reviews, and book chapters, and has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings over the past 20 years.
