Rosalind Ramsey-Goldman, MD, DrPH, is the John P. Gallagher Research Professor of Rheumatology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and an attending physician at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago, IL.
Dr Ramsey-Goldman has more than 38 years of experience as a rheumatologist and a doctoral-trained epidemiologist. Her research program examines risk factors to minimize complications in lupus. Through national and international collaborations, she studies genetic risk factors for disease severity/susceptibility; collaborates on investigations studying disease pathogenesis; and develops disease classification criteria, flare assessments, nephritis guidelines, disease impact (damage and frailty), and assessments of patient-reported outcomes (the National Institutes of Health–funded, investigator-initiated, randomized controlled LIFT trial). Dr Ramsey-Goldman was awarded a US Department of Defense grant to develop computable phenotype tools to assess risk factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes in the electronic medical record. She has expertise in examining and understanding health disparities and preventable conditions working in community-academic partnership groups. She was the principal investigator for 3 community-based programs, REACH Lupus, and Lupus Conversations using the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention–validated Popular Opinion Leader model to train community leaders to disseminate information to improve norms, health behaviors, and health in under-resourced communities.
Dr Ramsey-Goldman has been a member of the Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics (SLICC) for more than 20 years, was chair of the SLICC from 2004 to 2008, and is currently serving as a member of the SLICC World Lupus Committee. Additionally, she has volunteered in multiple roles for the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), including chair of the ACR Committee on Education and for the ACR Collaborative Initiatives Committee. She was also a coeditor for Arthritis & Rheumatology. Dr Ramsey-Goldman has served on multiple committees for Lupus Therapeutics/the Lupus Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN), including the site selection and evaluation, the steering, and the planning committees for the 2025 Community Meeting. In addition, she is an instructor, site investigator, and steering committee member for the Patient Advocates for Lupus Studies (PALs) program, a peer-mentoring program focusing on participation in clinical trials. Dr Ramsey-Goldman has received multiple awards, including the Lupus Foundation of America Evelyn V. Hess, MD, MACP, MACR, Award, and she was recognized as a Master of the ACR in 2019 and the Pan-American League of Associations for Rheumatology (PANLAR) in 2026.
