Conference Reporter® Podcast: The Mechanism of Action of JAK Inhibitors and Novel Mechanisms of Action in Myelofibrosis

Overview

JAK inhibitors work by blocking the overactive signaling pathways that drive inflammation and cell growth in myelofibrosis, while novel agents target independent biological pathways to overcome drug resistance or treat fibrosis directly. As discussed in today’s podcast, data presented at the recent 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting indicate that this nuanced understanding of drug mechanism of action assists clinicians in selecting the most appropriate JAK inhibitor for patients based on specific clinical features.

 

Following these presentations, featured expert Aaron T. Gerds, MD, MS, was interviewed by Conference Reporter Associate Editor-in-Chief Rick Davis, MS, RPh. Clinical perspectives from Dr Gerds on these findings are presented here.
