Charles D. Burger, MD, has been on the pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine staff at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, since 1991. He is a professor of medicine and is the director of the pulmonary vascular disease and the rare cystic lung disease programs. Both centers are accredited as comprehensive care with accomplishments in both education and research. He is a graduate of Wake Forest School of Medicine. He performed his internal medicine training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and his fellowship in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr Burger was recognized as the 2014 Mayo Clinic Distinguished Clinician and the 2019 Mayo Clinic Distinguished Educator. He has lectured nationally and internationally and has served as editor in chief of Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension. He has authored more than 125 peer-reviewed manuscripts, chapters, and letters.
