Adolfo Ramirez-Zamora, MD, is a professor of neurology at the University of Florida, specializing in movement disorders, with a strong focus on experimental therapeutics, neurophysiology, clinical trials, neurotechnology, and deep brain stimulation (DBS). His research integrates novel neuromodulation strategies, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. As the Movement Disorders division chief in the Department of Neurology at the University of Florida, Dr Ramirez-Zamora leads multidisciplinary collaborations across translational, clinical, and preclinical research in movement disorders.


Previously, he served as an associate professor of neurology and held the Philly E. Dake Endowed Chair in Movement Disorders at Albany Medical College from 2013 to 2017.


A key aspect of his research focuses on advancing DBS technology, optimizing programming strategies, and developing artificial intelligence–driven approaches to enhance treatments. Dr Ramirez-Zamora has contributed to multiple National Institutes of Health–funded, investigator-initiated, and industry-sponsored trials in Parkinson’s disease, tardive dyskinesia, and other movement disorders.
