David Scott Miller, MD, FACOG, FACS, is professor of obstetrics and gynecology, and he holds the Amy and Vernon E. Faulconer Distinguished Chair in Medical Science and the Dallas Foundation Chair in Gynecologic Oncology at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UT Southwestern) in Dallas. He also serves as medical director of gynecologic oncology at Parkland Health and Hospital System and chair of the Parkland Health and Hospital System Cancer Committee. He is the former director of gynecology oncology at UT Southwestern.

Born in Moscow, ID, and raised in Norman, OK, Dr Miller earned his medical degree from The University of Oklahoma and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He then served as a fellow in reproductive endocrinology at the University of California, San Diego and completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Stanford University Medical Center. Prior to coming to UT Southwestern, he was assistant professor at the Medical University of South Carolina and, later, at Northwestern University Medical School (currently known as the Feinberg School of Medicine) in Chicago, IL. 

Among his numerous professional affiliations, Dr Miller is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons, is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, and was formerly the president of the Western Association of Gynecologic Oncology. He is certified by and was an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and its Division of Gynecologic Oncology.  

Dr Miller has sought to add to the body of knowledge in gynecologic oncology, having authored more than 200 articles and book chapters and given more than 500 invited lectures. Additionally, he has long been active in the development of clinical trials for the treatment of gynecologic cancers. He has been study chair for multiple national trials of the Gynecologic Oncology Group, has served on its Board of Directors, and was chair of its Uterine Corpus Committee. He was appointed to the Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee for the National Cancer Institute Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program. He has also served as chair of the Gynecologic Cancer InterGroup Endometrial Committee. With the merger of the cancer cooperative groups, Dr Miller now serves as deputy group chair for membership and research integrity for NRG Oncology.
