Heather Wakelee, MD, FASCO, is the Winston Chen and Phyllis Huang Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, where she is also a professor of medicine and chief of the Division of Oncology. In addition, she is deputy director of the Stanford Cancer Institute.
As an experienced lung cancer investigator, Dr Wakelee has authored or coauthored more than 300 medical articles on lung cancer and thymic malignancies. In addition to her leading global role in studies defining the use of PD-1/PD-L1 ICIs in early-stage non–small cell lung cancer, her research focuses on many specific lung cancer subtypes defined by mutations in EGFR, ALK, ROS1, RET, BRAF, and others.
Dr Wakelee serves as past president of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer and is a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
