Jason Ezra Hawkes, MD, MS, FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist and principal investigator at the Oregon Medical Research Center in Portland.


He completed his undergraduate degree and medical school training at The University of Utah. During medical school, Dr Hawkes was 1 of 42 students selected nationally to participate in a 1-year research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health Howard Hughes Medical Institute Research Scholars Program. He then completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of Washington/Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center, followed by a dermatology residency at The University of Utah. After residency, he earned a master’s degree in clinical investigation at The Rockefeller University in New York City, where he was chief clinical scholar and principal investigator for multiple human research protocols in the Laboratory for Investigative Dermatology.


Prior to joining the Oregon Medical Research Center, Dr Hawkes held academic faculty appointments in the Department of Dermatology at The University of Utah School of Medicine, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and the University of California, Davis.


He currently serves as an International Psoriasis Council Councilor and as a National Psoriasis Foundation Medical Board and Scientific Advisory Committee member. He is also a fellow and the official delegate of the American Academy of Dermatology, as well as a member of the International Guidelines and Workgroup Committee for Chronic Urticaria.


Dr Hawkes has authored many peer-reviewed journal articles and dermatology textbook chapters and is the recipient of multiple federally funded grants and teaching awards, including the National Psoriasis Foundation Outstanding Educator in Psoriatic Disease and Exceptional Teacher of the Year in the Department of Dermatology at Mount Sinai. His primary clinical and research interests include novel immune therapies for inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, alopecia areata, vitiligo, and urticaria.
