Neeraj Agarwal, MD, FASCO, is professor of medicine and Presidential Endowed Chair of Cancer Research at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), University of Utah, where he also serves as senior director for clinical research. Additionally, he directs the HCI's Genitourinary Oncology Program and the Center of Investigational Therapeutics. After receiving his medical training at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, he completed an internal medicine residency and a geriatric medicine fellowship at The University of Iowa, followed by a hematology-oncology fellowship at HCI.
Dr Agarwal is an internationally recognized physician-scientist in the field of genitourinary cancers. He is the overall study chair of multiple phase 1/2 and phase 3 trials, and he is a steering committee member of numerous other trials. He has received the SWOG Young Investigator Award, the William D. Odell Young Investigator Award, and the National Cancer Institute Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award.
He has authored more than 500 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. He is a panel member for the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) guideline committees for genitourinary cancers and an advisor to the Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee and the US Food and Drug Administration. Dr Agarwal holds numerous scientific communications leadership roles, including editor in chief of the ASCO Daily News and editorial board member of several journals. He also serves as a member of the ASCO Genitourinary Cancers Advisory Panel and was named a fellow of ASCO.
