Robert A. Bermel, MD, MBA, is staff neurologist and director of the Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis at Cleveland Clinic.
He received a medical degree with thesis honors from The State University of New York at Buffalo, where his interest in multiple sclerosis (MS) began while training under Lawrence Jacobs, MD, a pioneer in developing treatments for MS. Dr Bermel completed his neurology residency training and his neuroimmunology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic.
Dr Bermel cares for patients, conducts imaging research, and participates in clinical trials at the Mellen Center for Multiple Sclerosis at Cleveland Clinic. His current research interests include the dual use of standardized, self-administered, neuroperformance testing and imaging for both clinical care and large-scale observational research, in addition to running an optical coherence tomography analysis laboratory for both clinical care and clinical trials.
