Gauri Varadhachary, MD, is a professor in gastrointestinal medical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. She completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Baylor College of Medicine in 1998 and was faculty at Baylor until she came to MD Anderson in 2003. She has pursued clinical and translational research in cancer of unknown primary (CUP) and pancreatic cancer. Dr Varadhachary has authored and co-authored well over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored many textbook chapters. Her research in pancreatic cancer includes the use of preoperative therapies in the management of resectable and borderline resectable cancer and sequencing of cytotoxic and novel therapies in this setting. She is interested in CUP translational research, especially the field of molecular and mutational profiling and its impact on the management of CUP subsets. She is the clinical medical director of the Gastrointestinal Center at MD Anderson Cancer and the executive medical director of ambulatory operations.
